How to Participate in the Scientific Inquiry through Plants (Sip3) project
Sip3
is a free online science education program. There is no fee to participate, but teachers, students, and scientist mentors
participating in the online learning community must be registered. Registration is not required to view the online environment.
Teachers who wish to use this program with their classes must register their school approximately one month in advance of a project.
We ask that students register one to two weeks ahead of time. This allows us to maintain a secure web site and send you materials to
prepare for the project. It also allows time to introduce you and your students to the scientist mentors before the student
investigations get underway.
The Sip3 program is currently available to
middle schools, high schools, and colleges. During the 2006 academic year, we will run spring and fall projects. We coordinate a general start date to
maximize interactions among students. The 2006 academic year schedule is:
| Inquiry Unit |
Grade Level |

If you are interested in taking part with your students, click here for a Registration Form.
PLEASE NOTE: Space for the Fall 2006 session is practically full. We are sorry if you are interested but will not be able to participate this session.
If you are interested in serving as a plant science mentor, click here for a Registration Form.
We will contact you with registration confirmation as soon as we receive your completed registration form. At this time, we will ask for final information and a photograph (in jpeg format 150 x 200 pixels) to add to the list of participating educators and scientist mentors.
Students will register individually on the website approximately 1-2 weeks before teachers begin the unit in class.
Please read: Site
Security. By registering to participate you agree to abide by the terms
and conditions.
Please contact Sip3 staff by email (sip3@botany.org) or phone (314-577-9566) if you have any questions about the program or how to join.
Enjoy Science!
